Co-ordinated Real Estate Investment Voice
Bringing together investors, managers and industry associations to align efforts, create consensus and reduce fragmentation, with the aim to accelerate industry-wide decarbonisation.
The Challenge
Real estate owners and managers are increasingly accountable for emissions from their assets as regulations tighten to accelerate the decarbonisation of the built environment. Achieving net zero requires the entire value chain to contribute through shared skills, knowledge, resources, tools, and innovations. However, despite broader climate change initiatives embraced by the wider investment community, efforts in real estate remain fragmented.
Institutional frameworks like the UN Principles of Responsible Investment (UNPRI) and the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) include property in their remit but lack a unified, coordinated voice for real estate investments. This lack of cohesion slows progress, with new localised initiatives emerging rather than leveraging and improving existing tools and frameworks. Addressing this fragmentation is essential to drive the industry towards meaningful, scalable solutions for climate action.

Creating a Co-ordinated Investment Voice
C Change is working to establish a structured working group of key investors, managers, and industry associations to align efforts, create consensus around key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop best practices for decarbonisation.
This initiative seeks to join forces with influential organisations already tackling these issues, such as INREV, EPRA, IIGCC, and GREEN, to build momentum and reduce duplication.
The programme will use existing and forthcoming regulations as a foundation to create alignment, ensuring that efforts are both impactful and scalable. By inviting leading investment players to participate, C Change aims to help unify the real estate sector around shared decarbonisation goals and drive progress at the speed and scale required.
